Driencourt

Driencourt ( Picard: Dryincourt ) is a commune with 94 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) by the Somme in the Picardie region, in the north of France. The municipality belongs to the canton Roisel and is part of the municipal association Communauté de communes du canton de Roisel.

Geography

The rural community is located about five kilometers northeast of Peronne in Vermandois to the department road 181E.

History

In Driencourt remains of a Gallo- Roman villa and underground shelters ( muche; see the basement of Naours ) were discovered.

During the First World War, the church was destroyed. She received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918. Reconstruction ( Mairie -École, church Sainte -Radegonde, houses and farms ) led the Parisian architect Jacques Debat - Ponsan ( 1882-1942 ) from his office, who also worked in the reconstruction of Peronne.
