Dubai Desert Classic
The Dubai Desert Classic is an annual professional golf tournament, which takes place in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. It has since its inauguration in 1989 an integral part of the European Tour [A 1] and was the first event on the tour, which was held in the Middle East. The tournament was organized mainly on the " Majlis " course at the Emirates Golf Club, with the exception of the years 1999 and 2000, where they played Creek Golf & Yacht Club in Dubai.
The event is known to attract the biggest stars in the golf world, which are also lured with generous inaugural salaries. The most successful was previously Ernie Els, who won the Desert Classic three times. Main sponsors of the tournament are Dubal and Omega (since 2010), to the side sponsors include Mercedes -Benz, National Bank of Dubai, Jumeirah Golf Estates, CNN, Emaar, Emirates Airlinesund Gulf News.
