Duchess Amelia of Württemberg

Amalie Luise Therese Wilhelmine Philippine von Württemberg ( born June 28, 1799 in Wallisfurth, † November 28, 1848 in Altenburg ), was a Duchess of Württemberg and by marriage Duchess of Saxe- Altenburg.

Life

Amalie was a daughter of Duke Ludwig Friedrich of Württemberg and his wife Princess Henrietta of Nassau- Weilburg. Amalie was a niece of King Frederick I of Württemberg, and the Russian Empress Maria Feodorovna. Their religious and witty mother was a major influence in the education of Princess in Kirchheim unter Teck, where Amelia grew up.

On April 24, 1817 in Kirchheim Amalie married the Crown Prince Joseph of Saxe -Hildburghausen. 1825 was the Princess Beatrice, as the title " Royal Highness " awarded to all members of the House of Württemberg, king of Württemberg.
