Dudeism

Dudeismus (The Church of the Latter-Day Dude ) is a philosophy and way of life, which was developed by the journalist Oliver Benjamin from the movie character Jeffrey "The Dude" Lebowski in 2005 (played by Jeff Bridges in the movie The Big Lebowski / Coen Brothers, 1998).

Elements of dudeistischen belief are the Chinese Taoism, thoughts of Epicurus as well as the actions and thinking of the " Dude" shown in the movie, fatalistic relaxed.

Whether Dudeismus is to be regarded as full-fledged religion, is unclear, but there are currently more than 160,000 "priest" ( official trailer) religion, including in Germany, the forensic biologist Mark Benecke. The central scripture is The Tao Dude Ching / The Dude De Ching (2009), in which the Tao Te Ching is connected with dialogue and plot lines from the movie The Big Lebowski. There are also held regular meetings of supporters of Dudeismus ( Dude Fest ).
