Dudu Georgescu

Dudu Georgescu ( born September 1, 1950 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian football player and coach.

Career as a player

Georgescu played from 1962 in the youth team of Progresul Bucharest. In 1969 he went into Progresuls professional team, for whom he debuted in 1970 in the Divizia A and in which he played until the end of 1972. After spending the 1972/73 season at CSM Resita, Georgescu moved to Dinamo Bucharest. Dinamo he spent the most successful period of his career: From 1975 to 1978 he was the top scorer every year Divizia A, 1975 and 1977 he also won the European Golden Shoe as top scorer of UEFA. He was the first Romanian who won this award. In the years 1975, 1977, 1982 and 1983 Georgescu won the Romanian championship titles with his club. After he left Dinamo 1983, Georgescu let his career end with some smaller clubs. In 1988, he ended his career for good.

Career as a coach

In the 1991/92 season Georgescu was in the second half coach of Corvinul Hunedoara, but could not prevent the descent of the association. In the following season he was in charge for two games CSM Resita after the dismissal of ion Copaceanu before the club Dan Firiţeanu committed. In the meantime, he worked in the sports and cultural department of the Romanian Ministry of Interior. Prior to 2001, he trained without particular success for some unterklassige clubs, including Acvila Giurgiu in Divizia C, Dunărea Calarasi in Divizia B as well as the then Soviet second division Zimbru Chisinau. Later he emigrated to Canada and settled in Toronto, where he founded a football school, while also collaborated with players of the Canadian Olympic team. After a few years of stay Georgescu acquired Canadian citizenship. In May 2004 he returned to Romania, but could not gain a foothold there. After he was active as a game observer on behalf of the Romanian Football Federation in the fall of 2004, left the country in late 2005 back towards Canada. That he especially his former club Dinamo Bucharest, despite his many years of service not even an offer for a possible collaboration in the children and young people received, he led in December 2007 to the tortured relationship with the rulers in the club, his former teammate Cornel Dinu, back.

National

Georgescu played 44 games in which he scored 21 goals for the Romanian national team. He debuted on October 14, 1973 at the 9:0 home win against Finland, and was appointed a regular in the squad to September 1982. After he was no longer considered for the squad for the European Football Championship in 1984, Georgescu received as a thank you one last fourteen minute international duty on 31 July 1984 and the friendly against China.

On 25 March 2008 Georgescu was " sporty Meritul " III by Romanian President Traian Basescu for the achievements in the national team with the Order of Merit. Class excellent.

Private

Georgescu is married to Marina since 1972 and has a son named Dudu Georgescu Jr. ( born June 3, 1973), the arbitrator eight games in Divizia A ran from 2000 to 2002.
