Duke Otto Henry of Brunswick-Harburg

Otto Heinrich von Braunschweig- Lüneburg- Harburg ( * June 16, 1555 in Harburg, † October 15th 1591 in Brussels) was Hereditary Prince of Brunswick- Lüneburg- Harburg.

Life

Otto Heinrich was the eldest son of Duke Otto II of Brunswick -Harburg (1528-1603) from his first marriage to Margaret (1530-1559), daughter of Count Johann Heinrich von Schwarzburg- mountain people.

Otto Heinrich was strictly scientifically educated under the supervision of his father, to instruct him in fine arts he had forbidden. Otto Heinrich studied at the University of Strasbourg, was first canon in Bremen, but suggested after a military career.

He led the cavalry in 1590 of the Duke Alessandro Farnese in the Eighty Years' War and was at the battle of Ivry on March 14, 1590 great bravery. In this battle seriously wounded, Otto Heinrich died a year later from his father 36 -year-old in Brussels.

Marriage and issue

Otto Heinrich married in not befitting marriage in 1588 with Marie d' Henin- Lietard († 1606 ), daughter of Count John of Bossu, with whom he had a son who was excluded in the Harburg succession:
