Dümmer See

The Dümmersee, also written Dumber lake, is a typical Rinnensee in the west of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

It is located around 25 kilometers from the border to Schleswig -Holstein, and 18 kilometers away from Schwerin between the Schaalsee and Lake Schwerin. In the middle of the lake lies the Little Werder peninsula that extends from the west bank. To the south is the island of Great Werder.

The lake is in the north-south direction approximately 2.6 km long and in east-west direction up to 710 meters wide. In the ditches north-west of the lake rises the brews that flows through the waters of the north east. The border between the districts of North West Mecklenburg and Ludwigslust - Parchim runs in the northern part of the lake in North - West direction. The neighboring communities are called Perlin and Dumber. The Dümmersee is located in the eponymous conservation area L 9, including next to the lake and shore areas.

From a former campsite on the southwestern shore since 2001, a building area for holiday and weekend houses arose. A campsite is located in the northwest of the lake.
