Dungu, Democratic Republic of the Congo

Dungu is a city in Upper Uele in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is the capital of the territory of the same name.

Geographical location

The city lies at an altitude of 730 m at the confluence of Dungu and Kibali to Uele. It is located in the tropical forest savannah, south of the Garamba National Park. The city is divided into four city districts: Uye in the far south, Mussa in the southern center, Ngilima in the center and Bamokandi in the north.

Population

For the majority of the 23,000 people counted population is Azande who speak Lingala.

Infrastructure

The city is equipped with a hospital and a nursing school. There is also a secondary school ( for the whole territory ) and an Internet coffee. The cathedral is the seat of the diocese of Doruma - Dungu. The hydropower plant is not operating.
