Dürerbund

The Dürerbund was a cultural-political association that existed from 1902 to 1935. The name reminded her of Albrecht Dürer.

History and Program

The Dürerbund was established on 1 October 1902 in Dresden from the publisher and writer Ferdinand Avenarius, in cooperation with the art historian Prof. Paul Schumann. He was closely associated later with the German Werkbund and the federal homeland security.

The aim of the association was the aesthetic education of the people and in the maintenance of culture. He became the leading cultural organization Reformation in German-speaking. He belonged to alongside artists and writers especially students, teachers and theologians. He also served as a marketing body for the magazine Kunstwart.
