Dürre Ager

Water level measuring device of the Office of the Upper Austrian Government, Hydrographic Service, on the Ager droughts in Sankt Georgen

The drought Ager is a river in Upper Austria. It flows through the Attergau from south to north and empties into Timelkam in the Vöckla. Here, the flow reaches a length of about 21.5 km. The drought Ager is not to be confused with the east extending approximately parallel Ager.

The drought Ager is formed from the confluence of Ruezingbach and Sagerer Bach in the municipality of Straß. Sometimes the Ruezingbach is considered the headwaters of droughts Ager, which thus comes to about 31 km in length. The Ruezingbach rises on the eastern slope of the mountain in the municipality of Mondsee Oberwang, only about one kilometer as the crow flies from the origin of the Vöckla. The sources of Ruezingbaches and all other headwaters are located in the flysch zone. Typical of springing from the flysch waters is the strongly fluctuating water levels. While the water level increases rapidly in the rain, he walks in dry periods back strong as the part of the name " skinny " implies. In the lower reaches there is in addition to seepage, causing the drought Ager times, most recently completely dry falls in July 2003.

For long sections of the drought Ager is relatively natural. Between Eggenberg ( mountain community in Attergau ) and Reichenthalheim (municipality Voecklamarkt ) it flows into numerous unpaved meander loops, surrounded by a narrow strip of riparian forest and wetlands. Built strong it is, however, in the district of St. Georgen im Attergau.

The water quality class of this river is class II
