Dušan Basta as a player of Red Star Belgrade

Dušan Basta ( born August 18, 1984 in Belgrade, SFR Yugoslavia) is a Serbian football player who is under contract for Udinese and plays for the Serbian national team.

Career

Basta began his professional career in 2002 with Red Star Belgrade. His former position is the right side of defense. In his youth, he played ten U -21 caps for Serbia and Montenegro, as a professional, he played twice for the national team. In the 2006 World Cup in Germany, he was also in the squad for the national team.

Dušan Basta was long considered one of the great talents in Serbia on the right -back position, but injuries threw him back ever.

For the season 2008/ 09 Basta moved on loan to the Italian first division side U.S. Lecce, after he had denied several pre-season games during league rivals Udinese Calcio. At the end of the loan period, he moved in summer 2009 to Udinese Calcio. Initially, only a reserve player he conquered under coach Francesco Guidolin a regular place in the defensive of the club.
