Dusit District

Dusit ( Thai ดุสิต, dù.sìt ) is one of the 50 districts (Khet ) of Bangkok, capital of Thailand. Dusit is a northern inner-city district on the east bank of the Chao Phraya River.

Dusit as the administrative center of the capital. Here are both the Parliament and various ministries of the country, as well as the royal palace. The district is connected to the Rattanakosin Island on Ratchadamnoen Road ( Ratchadamnoen Road, "Royal walk" ) in connection.

Geography

The Dusit district is bounded on the north by Khlong Bang Sue, in the east of the railway line, the incoming leads from Hua Lamphong Train Station via the train station of Bang Sue to the whole of Thailand, on the south by Khlong Phadung Krung Kasem and to the west by the Chao Phraya River.

The neighboring districts are from clockwise from the north: Bang Sue, Phaya Thai, Ratchathewi, Pathum Wan, Pom Prap Sattru Phai, Phra Nakhon, and on the other bank of the Chao Phraya River the district Bang Phlat. Here joining the Krung Thon Bridge

History

Dusit was created by King Chulalongkorn ( Rama V ), who wanted to escape the crowded conditions of the Rattanakosin Island. His Vimanmek Palace was built entirely of teak and made for a short time the residence of the king ( to 1908). In 1992 the complex was restored and revived, so that it is a major tourist attraction today.

Today the residence is built under King Vajiravudh (Rama VI ). Chitralada Palace, which is also located in Dusit. The large park around the palace today is an agricultural experimental center of King Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX. ).

Attractions

  • Dusit Palace - Ensemble of various palace buildings, the beginning of the 20th century by King Chulalongkorn created as an alternative to the Grand Palace. The best-known buildings are Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall. The large square in front of Ananta Samakhom is called Royal Plaza, it is often used for official announcements of the royal family but also for anti-government demonstrations.
  • Vimanmek Palace - built entirely of teak " Throne Hall ".

Education

In the district of Dusit Rajabhat University are the Suan Dusit Rajabhat University Suan and Sunandha, trade Campus Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon, and was founded in 2010 Navamindradhiraj University, sponsored by the city administration Bangkok.
