Location

The breakpoint is located about two kilometers southwest of the Düsseldorf main station at the intersection of the neighborhoods Bilk, Unterbilk and Friedrichstadt. He is in high position at the southern end of Friedrichstrasse in central Dusseldorf, close to the arcades and many other shops.

Railway stations

Opened on April 11, 1987 breakpoint Dusseldorf -Bilk was set up in the course of restructuring the railway line between Dusseldorf and Neuss and new construction of the S- Bahn line.

From the former passenger station Dusseldorf -Bilk except the built in 1906 platform roofing was nothing left. The station building from the late 19th century was demolished in 1986. Initially spared from demolition were only two pillars of the historic building, which, however, were also canceled in December 2007 due to the transformation space in front of the Dusseldorf arcades.

The remaining central platform is no longer on the mainline track, but on the parallel new S -Bahn route, at the same time it was adapted to the needs of today's S- Bahn service. The height of the platform was increased to 96 cm, creating a second access and access equipped with an inclined elevator. To the east of the platform, a fünfgleisige railway bridge over the Friedrichstrasse connects. South of the bridge are located - to the completion of Wehrhahnlinie - the temporary tram stops in the streets Fountain Street (lines 706, 707 and 713 ) or Aachener Strasse (line 712 ).

The current breakpoint is classified by DB Station & Service in the train station category 4. The main entrance to the tram stop is a small mall with a stand and a bistro.

History

Simultaneously with the opening of the new Central Station ( Hauptbahnhof Dusseldorf today ) in 1891, the station Dusseldorf -Bilk was inaugurated. He first had a simple central platform and a reception building.

1908 was expanded with the construction of the freight depot Bilk and the passenger station. The building was extended and the platform got a canopy. In addition, the platform was opened by a passenger and luggage tunnel. This was necessary because the line between Neuss and the main train station has been expanded to four tracks.

Until 1984, the station has changed little, then was the major conversion for the S-Bahn. The station building was demolished, access to the Friedrichstrasse rebuilt and is a second entrance on the west side.

East of the station, a four-track subway station on the planned trunk routes 3 ( Wehrhahnlinie ) and 4 should arise. However, according to current plans, only an above-ground station of the city Wehrhahnlinie will arise. The plans for the fourth main line were completely discarded.

Construction and planning

The north of the railway bridge located on the Friedrichstraße tram station is being converted into an above-ground station city and forms the southern end of the expected 2014 finished Wehrhahnlinie.

Also planned are the construction of a second platform to the remote tracks as well as the modernization of the S- Bahn stop point. Then next to S-Bahn and regional trains again and regional express trains will stop in Dusseldorf -Bilk. The originally planned for 2014 Construction of the new platform is currently scheduled for 2015.
