Sickle spot catfish ( Corydoras hastatus )

The sickle spot catfish ( Corydoras hastatus ) is a small freshwater ornamental fish of the genus Corydoras from the family of armored catfish. It reaches a maximum size of three centimeters and is native to South America from central Brazil to Paraguay.

The unobtrusive light gray - black drawn, almost transparent translucent fish often away - not typical for catfish - often for long periods from the bottom of the water and pulls the free water. The characteristic dark, lance-shaped, spot at the base of the caudal fin is the scientific name of the species: lat = hasta lance hastatus = Spearman.
