E. F. Benson

Edward Frederic Benson (* July 24, 1867, † February 29, 1940 ) was an English author.

He was born at Wellington College in Berkshire, the fifth child of the rector, Edward White Benson, later Archbishop of Canterbury. Benson was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, and at King's College, Cambridge.

E. F. Benson wrote over 90 books. The most popular were his comic novels about Dodo ( "Dodo ", " Dodo the Second " and " Dodo Wonder", 1914-1921 ), and Lucia, beginning with " Queen Lucia " (1920 ) and " Lucia in London" (1927 ). He also wrote the 1912 horror short story The tower room ( The Room in the Tower ). Between 1911 and 1940 Benson also published five issues with personal and family memories.

His brother Arthur Christopher Benson was also known as a writer. His sister Margaret Benson was the first woman to receive a license in Egypt and there conducted excavations in the temple district of the goddess Mut at Karnak. Her brother "Fred" she supported in 1897 the process by drawing plans.
