E. S. Posthumus

E.S. Posthumus was an American music group from Los Angeles, founded in 2000 by brothers Helmut and Franz Vonlichten. The E.S. on behalf of the group stands for " Experimental Sounds". Because of the death of Franz Vonlichten in May 2010 Helmut Vonlichten the end of the group announced in July.

Style

The musical style of the group combines orchestral and choral sounds with percussion and elements of electronic music.

The music of E.S. Posthumus reminiscent in part to film music and has already been used for this reason in some movie trailers, including trailer for Spider -Man ( Pompeii ), The Matrix Reloaded and Planet of the Apes. Furthermore, the title of their first album Unearthed Nara serves as the theme song for the TV series Cold Case - No victim is ever forgotten. The German metalcore band We Butter The Bread With Butter used ES Posthumus Unstoppable song for her concert at the intro Impericon Festival.

Unearthed

Unearthed, released in 2001, is the first album from ES Posthumus. It was developed in collaboration with the Symphony Orchestra of the city of Seattle and the choir of Seattle Choir Company and the musicians Michael Landau (guitar), Pedro Eustache ( woodwinds ), Davy Spillane (bagpipe ) and Efrain Toro (percussion) was added. All tracks on the album are named after ancient cities.

Cartographer

Cartographer is the second album by E.S. Posthumus. The release of the album was originally scheduled for 2006, for unknown reasons, the date shifted, however, repeatedly until the album finally appeared in early 2008. On Cartographer put E.S. Posthumus for the first time alongside the orchestra and chorus with a solo vocals, which is contributed by the soprano Luna Sans. The album consists of two CDs, which make up the second CD of remixes of the first CD. In the remix versions of the solo vocal parts are replaced by choral singing and solo instruments. The second CD is much more like the sound stronger the first album Unearthed.

Makara

Makara is the third album by E.S. Posthumus and appeared in 2010.

Singles

  • Posthumus Zone was composed for an NFL sports broadcast on CBS and became known among other things, the opening credits. In 2005, a remix version, titled Rise to Glory was developed in collaboration with DJ Quik and Bizarre.
  • Unstoppable is the title of the second single, which was composed as theme music for the AFC Championship in 2007 for CBS.
  • Arise is the third single by Posthumus Zone and Unstoppable and was used as the music for the AFC Championship in 2008 on CBS. Furthermore, Arise is the first single from the new album Ausklopplung Deciphered, whose release date is still unknown.
  • Nara became the theme song of the U.S. television series Cold Case - No victim is ever forgotten.
