Eanberht

Eanberht (also Eanberhtus, Eamberht ) was between 755 and 759 to an Anglo-Saxon king of Hwicce.

Life

The few known facts of his life arise from documents, which he exhibited or signed as a witness: At the beginning of the reign of Offa of Mercia ( 757-796 ) was Hwicce of the three brothers Eanberht, Uhtred and Ealdred, entitled regulus (small king ) contributed ruled. The power of Mercia was so strong that the Offa's consent was required for a land donation to the church. After 759 his name was not mentioned in documents. Eanberhts death date is unknown.
