Earl Alexander of Tunis
Earl Alexander of Tunis is a hereditary British title of nobility in the Peerage of the United Kingdom, named after the family Alexander.
Award
The title was created in 1952 for the British Governor General of Canada Harold Alexander. This was during World War II commander of British troops in North Africa.
Since the first Earl, the third son of James Alexander, 4th Earl of Caledon was, the present Earl is a possible heir of this title.
Subordinate title
Already in 1946 the title of Viscount Alexander of Tunis, of Errigal was in the County of Donegal, awarded to the first Earl.
With the earldom of the title Baron Rideau, of Ottawa and of Castle Derg were in the County of Tyrone, awarded simultaneously. Baron Rideau is led by the heirs title as a courtesy title. All subordinate titles are also included in the Peerage of the United Kingdom.
