Earl of Iddesleigh

Earl of Iddesleigh, in the County of Devon, is a British hereditary title of nobility which is supported by the family Northcote. The title belongs to the Peerage of the United Kingdom. The title of the Earldom is " Idsly ", the name " Northcut " pronounced.

Ancestral home of the family is Hayne at Exeter in Devon.

Award

The title was for the Conservative politician Sir Stafford Northcote, 8th Baronet, created in 1885. He had held various government posts, including Chancellor of the Exchequer, First Lord of the Treasury and Minister for Foreign Affairs.

Subordinate title

The first Earl simultaneously received the title of Viscount St Cyres, Newton Saint Cyres of, awarded in the County of Devon. This title, which also belongs to the Peerage of the United Kingdom, each title heirs serves as a courtesy title.

Another title

An ancestor of the first Earl, who was for many years been a member of the House of Commons, was already in 1641 a baronet, of Haynes in the County of Devon, collected. This title, which belongs to the Baronetage of England, is performed in addition to the aforementioned tracks from the respective Earl.
