Earl of Listowel

Earl of Listowel is a hereditary British title of nobility in the Peerage of Ireland, named after the town of Listowel, County Kerry, which is supported by the Family Hare.

The family seat was Convamore House at Ballyhooly, County Cork, in Ireland.

Award

The title was created in 1822 for the Irish politician William Hare, 1st Viscount Ennismore and Listowel.

Subordinate title

The first Earl was raised to Baron Ennismore, in the County of Kerry, and in 1816 created Viscount Ennismore and Listowel already in 1800. Both titles that are out as subordinate title to earldom, also belong to the peerage of Ireland.

The third Earl was 1869 such other subordinate title of Baron Hare, of Convamore in the County of Cork, who belongs to the Peerage of the United Kingdom. Thereby, the respective Earl had until 1999 an automatic seat in the House of Lords.

The eldest son of the Earl respective leads the courtesy title Viscount Ennismore.
