East Bergish

Ostbergisch or East Bergisch is a Behelfsbezeichnung the German majority for a Low Franconian dialect group in the Bergische Land. The ostbergischen dialects bordered to the east by the Westphalian dialect region. They are regarded as transitional dialects and thus exhibit speech characteristics of Südniederfränkischen, the Kleverländischen and the Treaty of Westphalia.

Western neighbors of Ostbergischen are the Südniederfränkische and south of the line Benrather Ripuarian. As a parting line for directly neighboring Westphalian dialect region is located to the north weakening the " Westphalian " line used.
