East Korea Bay

The Ostkoreabucht (Korean: 동 조선 만, Tongjosŏn -man) is a bay of the Sea of Japan ( East Sea of Korea ) in the north- east of the Korean Peninsula.

It runs along the North Korean provinces Hamgyŏng - namdo and Kangwŏn -do with the ports of Wonsan and Hamhung Hungnam -. As boundaries of the 38th parallel (demilitarized zone ) in the south and the city Kimch'aek ( Songjin ) can be specified in the north.

The term Ostkoreabucht is used primarily by North Korea, which considers the entire bay as its territorial waters, which is not recognized internationally. North Korea also reinforces his claims with respect to an alleged historical existence of the bay designation; in fact it is in the term probably a modern name creation.

On the opposite side of the peninsula is the (Western) Korea Bay.
