Eazel

Eazel was a software company based in Mountain View, California (USA). The company was founded in 1999. The staff were part of former employees of Apple Computer, Netscape, Be Incorporated, Linux Care and Sun Microsystems. The best-known employee was Andy Hertzfeld, one of the software developers of the Macintosh operating system.

One goal of Eazel was to develop the Nautilus file manager for the GNOME desktop ( under Linux). Shortly after the release of the company Eazel Nautilus 1.0 was broke, as it was not possible to obtain further risk capital (May 2001).

The Nautilus file manager persists as part of GNOME, and is further developed by the open source community.
