Ébauche

The draft model of a clock (also French: Ebauche ) cover the basic components of a mechanical movement or quartz movement.

These include not only the earlier than Blanc designated base station consisting of main plate, bridges, bars and spring house, nor the components gear train, motion work and waves. The escapement, balance wheel and spring are not included ébauche. Rohwerke are manufactured by Blanquiers.

The draft model is shipped from the manufacturer in bulk, and by a Établisseur ( a clockmaker or watchmaker ) supplemented, possibly further processed (see finissage ) and assembled into a complete clock.

The most important supplier of blanks, is the holding company founded, Swiss 1927 Ebauche SA, a consortium of Rohwerkehersteller ETA SA, FHF, AS, Unitas, Peseux SA and Valjoux. The largest German producer of movement blanks was Durowe in Pforzheim.
