Ebba Grön

Ebba Gron was a music group from the Stockholm suburb Rågsved, which grew out of the punk movement and was founded in 1977.

The band played rock music with elements of punk rock and progressive rock and exclusively Swedish lyrics with political content. It is the most commercially successful punk rock band from Sweden.

History

The band Ebba Gron was founded in 1977 by Thåström, Eriksson and Ljungstedt during a party in a practice room. The name alludes to the police code for the arrest of the German terrorist Norbert Kröcher who planned the kidnapping of the Swedish politician Anna- Greta Leijon.

Singer Joakim Thåström has quickly become the front figure of Ebba Gron. The first single, anti rock, was released on April 21, 1978. The band bought up the entire edition of 500 copies and distributed them among friends and in the scene. 1979 came out the first album, We're Only in It for the Drugs, which brought great commercial successes and was crowned "Best album in the history of Sweden ." In 1982, the third and most successful album Ebba Gron out with the hits of 800 graders, evoking the outbreak of nuclear war, and The Wall. The following year, the band broke up. Bassist Fyodor was tired of the fame, while the rest of the band formed the band Imperiet as a result of the project.
