Ebed-Melech

Ebed- Melech is a figure in the Hebrew Bible in the Book of Jeremiah ( Jer 38-39 EU).

Ebed- Melech served as treasurer on the Judean king Zedekiah yard. However, Zedekiah, Jeremiah was thrown into a cistern, as it had predicted the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians. It was a prophecy that Zedekiah could not accept. Ebed- Melech believed Jeremiah's words and requested of the king to rid the prophet out of the cistern. Zedekiah it afforded him. With " torn rags ", joined the Ebed- Melech to a rope, he pulled Jeremiah out of the well.

Shortly before the capture of Jerusalem by the Babylonians God granted Jeremiah to warn his savior Ebed- Melech, and to assure him that nothing would be done by the Babylonians. The fate Ebed- melech the Bible does not say anything.

Filming

In the 1998 film version produced Bible " The Bible - Jeremiah " the Briton Jolyon Stephenson embodies the figure of Ebed- Melech.
