Ebersdorf bei Coburg ( officially: Ebersdorf b.Coburg ) is a community in the Upper Franconian district of Coburg.

Geography

Ebersdorf is located in the upper valley of the Füllbaches, a tributary of the Itz. South of the town extends Lichtenfelser forest.

History

Ebersdorf was founded in 1200 as Rodesiedlung of the ministeriales Eberhard von Sonnenberg. 1260 was there a nunnery.

Once considered as the center of Ebersdorf Weißbüttnerei, while the inhabitants of the area lived mainly from the basketry, which has survived as a furniture industry.

As part of the Office Sonnenfeld, the village belonged until 1918 to the Duchy of Saxe-Coburg, only 1705-1826 she was part of the duchy of Saxe -Hildburghausen. In 1920, she became integrated with the State of Coburg in Bavaria.

Incorporations

On 1 January 1965 Friesendorf was incorporated. On 1 April 1971 Großgarnstadt, Kleingarnstadt and Oberfüllbach were added. Frohnlach followed on 1 May 1978.

Economy and Transport
