Eboardmuseum

The Eboardmuseum is a collection of electronic keyboard instruments and is located in the center of Klagenfurt in Austria. It was founded in 1987 by musician, teacher of mathematics and engineer Gert Prix. The original collection was soon strongly spatially cramped. 2007 the museum moved into a hall on the south side of the Klagenfurt exhibition grounds and since then is considered the largest of its kind in Europe. 2010 the Eboardmuseum the Austrian museum seal of approval was given.

Museum operations

On 1,700 m² area, the Eboardmuseum shows about 1,500 exhibits.

The focus is on electronic keyboard instruments, which cover the entire development history of electronic keyboards, starting with the Hammond Model A in 1935, to current synthesizers such as the Moog Voyager.

Among the exhibits there are numerous prototypes and unique (Hohner Clavinet, Rhodes piano, mellotron, and others), but also original instruments of international stars such as Keith Emerson ( Emerson, Lake & Palmer ), Geoff Downes (Asia ), Peter Wolf ( Frank Zappa ) Tangerine Dream.

Though unusual for an instrument museum that issued instruments are presented live not only in guides, but may also be played by visitors themselves. Professional musicians and music lovers from all over the world like to take this opportunity true.

The museum's library contains literature on the topics of electronic music with a focus on keyboards, as well as pop music and pop culture.

The Eboardmuseum has set itself the goal to offer in its guides and non- musicians or children a fun-filled, family -friendly excursion into the world of music.

Events

Weekly live concerts. The built- in Eboardmuseum event area is furnished with sofas and offers living room atmosphere. Here are held each year about 50 concerts. The past and future program is documented on the website.

Service area

Open run workshops allow visitors to watch the museum technicians in their work and provide some insight into the inner workings of the instruments.
