Ebu Beker Mosque

The Ebu Bekr Mosque ( Alb.: Xhamia Ebu Beker, also: Al- Zamil Mosque ) is the main mosque in the northern Albanian city of Shkodra district.

The mosque was designed by the architectural firm ARC Architectural Consultants and built from 1994 to 1995 at the site of the former Fushë - Celes - mosque with money of the Saudi businessman Sheik Zamil Abdullah Al Zamil Ottoman architectural style. It was named after Abu Bakr ( 572-634 ), the first Caliph after the Prophet Muhammad. It was renovated in 2008.

The mosque, now located at the end of the pedestrian zone, opposite the Hotel Colosseo, offers with its area of ​​622.72 square meters, enough space for 1,300 worshipers. The two minarets are each 41.11 meters high. The central dome has a height of 24 meters.
