ebXML

EbXML stands for Electronic Business using XML, that is XML for electronic business processes.

EbXML is a launched in 1999, a joint initiative of UN / CEFACT and OASIS. The aim of the initiative is to develop a technical framework for the use of XML for electronic business processes and lowering the entry barriers for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and developing countries.

EbXML is not a standard per se, but a family of different standards from UN / CEFACT and OASIS. The ebXML standard offer are the basic technical ebXML architecture ( ebXML Technical Architecture Specification), an XML schema for business processes (Business Process Specification Schema), a registration service ( Registry Services Specification) using a Registry Information Model ebRIM and a news service ( message Service Specification).

The development of ebXML proceeded in two phases. The first phase was completed in May 2001 after 18 months. In autumn 2003, the second phase was the statement that the project is technically completed, finished.

EbXML is in competition with other XML -based standards such as RosettaNet.

From the International Organization for Standardization ( ISO), the following ebXML specifications have been recognized as an ISO 15000 under the umbrella term "Electronic business eXtensible Markup Language ".
