Eccentric Jupiter

As Eccentric Jupiter (usually the English term Eccentric Jupiter is used), a hypothetical gas planet is denoted by jupiter similar mass and highly eccentric orbit. Representative of this type were detected as exoplanets around several stars using indirect methods (usually by measuring the radial velocity of the star ). They would probably absorb all the smaller planets in the range between its periastron and Apastron or throw out of orbit so that Earth-like planets in such systems are extremely unlikely. The current state of knowledge suggests that about 7 % of all stars are orbited by a Jupiter eccentric.
