Ecgberht I of Northumbria

Ecgberht († 873 ) was 867-872 Subkönig of Northumbria. From this time, very little is known about Northumbria.

Another mention in historical sources is Ecgberht again only to part 872, as the chronicler Symeon of Durham reports that " the Northumbrians expelled their king Ecgberht and the Archbishop Wulfhere ".

Finally it is reported about his death in the year 873 and that Ricsige succeeded him.
