Echinocereus pentalophus is a flowering plant in the genus Echinocereus from the cactus family ( Cactaceae ). The specific epithet pentalophus is derived from the Greek words penta five and Lophos for comb and refers to the most fünfrippigen shoots of Art trivial names are " Alicoche ", " Cardoncillo " and "Lady Finger Cactus".

Description

Echinocereus pentalophus is richly branched, low and spread out Grupen of up to 1 meter in diameter. The first description as Cereus pentalophus by Augustin- de Candolle Pyrame was published in 1828. Charles Lemaire presented the type 1868 in the genus Echinocereus. We distinguish the following sub- types:

  • Echinocereus pentalophus subsp. leonensis ( Mathsson ) N.P.Taylor
  • Echinocereus pentalophus subsp. procumbens ( Engelm. ) W.Blum & Mich.Lange

A synonym of subspecies Echinocereus pentalophus subsp. pentalophus is Echinocereus leptacanthus ( DC. ex Pfeiff. ) K.Schum. (1898, nom. Inval. ICBN Articles 36.1, 34.1).

In the Red List of Threatened Species IUCN, the type is known as " Least Concern ( LC) ," ie, than not led at risk.
