Eckbach Mill Path

The Corner Brook Mill Trail is a hiking trail in Rhineland- Palatinate. It has a length of 23 kilometers and leads with low gradient along the Eckbachs by the Leiningerland in the northeast Palatinate.

Course

The trail runs within the unitary councils Hettenleidelheim and green town and country from west to east / northeast. It connects from the Palatinate Forest over the vineyards of the German Wine Road to the edge of the Rhine valley nine villages that still have 23 partially restored mills - from the original 35

The difference in altitude between the start and end point ( Hertlingshausen 308 meters, 108 meters Dirmstein ) is 200 meters, the cumulative height difference over the total sloping distance is only about 250 meters. Thus, the trail has difficulty easily.

The year-round walk trail is marked by wooden signs, which were made by volunteers in manual work and have since been serviced. They carry the left of the name " Corner Brook mill trail " a logo on a wavy line shows a house outline with water wheel and was designed in 1997 in a student competition by Cosmas Kösters from Kirchheim. The wavy line symbolizes the Corner Brook, the stylized house with water wheel mill.

History

Was created as a tourist attraction, the path on the initiative of the mill researcher Wolfgang Niederhöfer from Kleinkarlbach. On 12 October 1997, the inauguration by the Rhineland-Palatinate Minister President Kurt Beck in Großkarlbach, the place with the most preserved mills ( six of seven ) was performed. The then stimulated expansion of Großkarlbacher Dorfmühle a cultural monument and museum Leiningerland mill was completed in 2007.

Originally, the path began when Eckbachweiher and was only 19 miles long, in 2000, he was upward extended by four kilometers to the Eckbachquelle in Hertlingshausen.
