Eclipse Comics

Eclipse Comics was an American comic book publisher. Eclipse was from 1978 to 1994 in the business longer than most other publishers, who were formed at the beginning of the 1980s.

History

Eclipse was founded in 1978 by Jan and Dean Mullaney. Don MacGregor and Paul Gulacys Sabre was the first graphic novel moved the Eclipse, and the first comic strip, exclusively through the Direct Market (ie specialized comic shops) was expelled. In 1981 Eclipse Magazine, a black / white magazine, which contained, among other works by Steve Englehart and Max Allan Collins. Eclipse also published one of the first American publishers translated versions of popular manga, Masamune Shirow's Appleseed and among other Dominion - Tank Police, Sanpei Shiratos Kamui and Masaomi Kanzakis xenon. Older English-language titles were re-released by Eclipse, such as Krazy Kat and Alan Moore's Marvelman, who appeared in Eclipse because of licensing problems as Miracleman. Later should Neil Gaiman and Mark Buckingham Post new Miracleman stories, but by the end of this Eclipses were never completed. Furthermore, the publisher published adaptations of various works, such as comic adaptations of Tolkien's Hobbit and various James Bond stories.
