The Ecole Nationale Supérieure d' Ingénieurs du Mans or ENSIM (French for National Higher School of Engineering in Le Mans ) is a company incorporated in 1995, French engineer school, which was originally dedicated to working with vibrations, acoustics and sensors. Since 2009, she also offers training in computer science.

Tasks

The tasks of the school extend to research, professional development, technology transfer to companies, both in France and abroad. ENSIM is equipped with various modern laboratories such as, inter alia, a clean room, an optics laboratory, a laboratory for the measurement of vibrations and a polymer chemistry lab. The partnership between the École nationale supérieure d' Ingénieurs du Mans with the acoustics laboratory of the Université du Maine ( Laum ) will allow students to demonstrate in the third year of study on acoustic sensors in parallel with a corresponding Master of Science degree program.

History

The ENSIM was founded in 1995 and aimed at the training of mechanical engineers and engineers in industrial metrology. The ENSIM was then still in the buildings of the Institut Universitaire de Technologie ( IUT ). The building of the ENSIM was inaugurated on 1 December 1997. Designed by the architect Christian Hauvette and Bernard Dufournet building has a floor area of 5,000 m²; the construction costs amounted to four million euros. 2006 vibrations and acoustics were identified as priorities with the goal to train engineers in measurement systems, vibration and acoustics. Since 2009, courses in computer science are offered at the ENSIM.

Structure of the program

The ENSIM offers its students a highly interdisciplinary course of study. In the first year foundation subjects are taught; the second year of study offers the possibility of specialization:

  • Specializing in vibration, acoustics and sensors:
  • Specialization computer science:

Core courses are

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Computer (MATLAB, Scilab, C )
  • Intellectual Property
  • Languages

Foreign languages

The learning of English is mandatory; the ENSIM has for this purpose a language laboratory. All students must take a certification examination of the level "B2" according to the Common European Framework of Reference. These levels are 785 points in TOEIC. In addition, credits for learning another foreign language will be awarded.

Students can choose a language from the following languages:

  • German
  • Spanish
  • Italian
  • Portuguese
  • Arabic
  • Russian
  • Chinese
  • Japanese

Miscellaneous

The school has a share of almost 20 % foreign students, especially from the African and Asian regions. It has partnerships with many schools and universities all over the world and also participates in the ERASMUS program.
