The University École Normale Supérieure Lettres et sciences humaines ( ENS LSH short ) was a French Grande École, which belonged to the network of normal supérieures Écoles.

History

The ENS LSH was the successor to the ENS Fontenay and Saint -Cloud, which were founded in 1880 or 1882 by the French educational reformer Jules Ferry, in order to guarantee a high-quality teacher training. With the aim of decentralization and reorganization of technical ENS the École Normale Supérieure de Fontenay / Saint -Cloud in 1987 formed, who moved to Lyon in 2000 and renamed the École Normale Supérieure Lettres et sciences humaines. It included the entire humanities branch of the predecessor high schools, while the scientific part normale supérieure de Lyon was located in Lyon since 1987 under the name École. On 1 January 2010, the humanities- oriented device with the ENS Lyon was ( scientific nature ) merged.

Study

Admission to the program was carried out through a nationwide admissions process after the visit of two years of preparatory classes. The students thus adopted were designated élève normalien and recorded with salary for the period of 10 years in government service. In addition, students who came from universities could apply for each subsequent year of study and then study as a free handset, or an international scholarship at the ENS LSH.

The university had four faculties: literature and the arts, languages, humanities and social sciences.

After the first year, the students were given the license ( bachelor ) and after two more years to master ( magister ). However, it was prepared after the first master year normally for one year the Agrégation an exam for teachers at secondary schools, so that the complete study at the ENS LSH was 4 years.
