EconBiz – Virtual Library for Economics and Business Studies

EconBiz is a search portal for economics and is supported by the German National Library of Economics - Leibniz Information Centre for Economics ( ZBW ) operated. It was founded in 2002 as a " Virtual Library for Economics " for the first time online.

Originally funded by the German Research Foundation ( DFG), EconBiz is continuously expanded with the help of partners.

Objective of EconBiz is to support research and teaching in economics through a central access point for all range of economic information and direct access to the full text.

History

EconBiz was in a DFG - funded project jointly organized by the German National Library of Economics Leibniz Information Centre for Economics ( ZBW ) and the University and City Library of Cologne ( USB Köln) developed. The portal went online for the first time in September 2002.

When you re-launch in October 2010, the Metasearch has been replaced by a search engine index ( Lucene / SOLR ). In addition, the standard thesaurus economy (STM) integrated to enable an automatic search for synonyms and translations of a term.
