Economic Community of Central African States

The Central African Economic Community, ECCAS usually abbreviated, ( French: Communauté Economique des États d' Afrique Centrale; Spanish: Comunidad Económica de Estados de África Central, Portuguese: Comunidade Económica e Monetaria da África Central) in 1983 on the initiative of the Organisation for African Unity ( OAU) customs and Economic Union agreed by the seven states of the former Central African contract.

They encourage and support Member States on economic issues and the establishment of a customs union and the resulting creation of a common market.

The United Nations support the creation of special economic zones and development corridors within the Economic Community of Central African States under the active participation of the private sector.

The Central African Economic Community organizes every year a Summit of Heads of State and Government, the Council of Ministers and the General Secretariat.
