Speech recognition

ECTACO is one of the first developers of speech recognition in the field of translation. Developed by ECTACO, in cooperation with Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency speech recognition technologies by international organizations such as NATO, the UN and Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE ), authorities in the United States as United States Army, FBI, Department of Homeland Security of the United States Social Security Administration, United States Secret service, Department of Health Services, United States Postal Service, New York used hospital. Particularly active was the collaboration with the U.S. authorities 2004-2006. Devices from ECTACO were also used in the Iraq war.

Developed by ECTACO Voice recognition system allowed the U.S. government facilities to communicate with non-English speaking callers, especially in conflict areas. Foundation

The company ECTACO Inc. was founded in 1989 in New York, USA, by David Lubaynitsky, BORN Saint-Petersburg (Russia). The company then acted primarily as distributors of electronic dictionaries from other manufacturers. In 1990 ECTACO to develop their own software and hardware. Russian - and Polish-speaking immigrants in the U.S. were selected as the target group of the company. The first electronic dictionaries of Ectaco supported the language pair Russian ↔ English and Polish ↔ English and later German ↔ English.

Development centers

In 1998 the software development center of ECTACO in Saint-Petersburg, Russia, was founded by Anton Epifanov, vice president of the company as managing director. The center developed software for about 300 models, with the support of 47 languages ​​and began in 2000 to develop technologies of speech recognition. In 2002, the first commercial model with voice recognition ECTACO appeared on the market. The main office of ECTACO located in Long Iceland, NY. ECTACO 1993 opened offices in Russia (Saint- Petersburg and Moscow). Within two years, emerged offices in Germany (Berlin), London (UK ), Czech Republic ( Prague ), Canada ( Toronto ), Poland ( Warsaw ) and Ukraine (Kiev). 2000 second office was opened in the USA in Chicago.
