Ed Podivinsky

Charles Edward "Ed" Podivinsky ( born March 8, 1970 in Toronto, Ontario) is a former Canadian alpine skier. He started mainly in the speed disciplines and was especially successful in the downhill.

Career

Podivinsky won in his career a World Cup race, the downhill in Saalbach -Hinterglemm 1994 on January 6. Council reached four other podium finishes in the downhill one in the combination. Less successful was he in the Super -G.

Highlight of his career was winning the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in 1994 in Lillehammer. The winner Tommy Moe he lost an only twelve hundredths of a second. A similar surprise nearly four years later succeeded him in the downhill at the 1998 Olympics in Nagano, where he lost in fifth just eight hundredths of a second bronze.

After the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, he stepped back from the race.
