The EDAG GmbH & Co. KGaA, to January 2008 EDAG Engineering Design AG is a German company in the areas of product development, production facility development, construction and small batch production. The EDAG Group is the world 's largest independent development partner to the automotive and aerospace industries.
History
Was founded in 1969 in Groß-Zimmern near Darmstadt by Horst Eckard, the company eckard design. After the establishment opened in the same year, the first office in Cologne. A year later, the headquarters was moved to Fulda and the company developed vehicles and production. Since 1986, prototypes are built. From 1987 began with a branch in Martorell (Barcelona) in Spain, the international presence of the company. 1992 the legal form of a public limited company and the name EDAG Engineering Design AG was formed. The first automobile service provider EDAG is included in the Association of the Automotive Industry in 1998. In 2004, the company FFT Flexible Manufacturing Technology GmbH & Co. KG, today's production FFT EDAG GmbH & Co. KG has been integrated into the company. In February 2006 bought Lutz Helmig, owner of Aton GmbH and founder of Helios clinics that Edag of the nine founding families. 2007, a personnel services company named ED Work GmbH & Co. KG was founded.
As a result of the takeover by the Aton GmbH, the company was transformed from a stock corporation into a partnership limited by shares on 11 January 2008. Another consequence of the restructuring retired on 8 April 2008 from the Managing Director Klaus Blickle and Jürgen Böhm from the company and will be replaced by the long-time senior staff Jörg Ohlsen, Manfred Hahl and Rainer Bauer. The company has 32 offices on five continents. Most are located in close proximity to major sites of the partner industries. Aviation
Together with the French company AUSY (51%) EDAG is involved (49%), which specializes in aviation engineering service ELAN - AUSY. The subsidiary is based in Hamburg offers development services (planning, design, simulation, documentation), project management, testing, on- site support and consulting. Among the customers of ELAN - AUSY include, inter alia, Airbus and risk partners of Airbus, airlines and companies in the Repair and Overhaul. The quality management systems of ELAN - AUSY meet the requirements of organizations in aerospace and defense as evidenced by the certification according to DIN EN 9100 regularly.
