Eddie Lawson

Eddie Lawson ( born March 11, 1958 in Upland, California ) is a former American professional motorcycle racer.

Lawson won in 1981 and 1982, the American Superbike Championship on a Kawasaki Z1000 ( Z1000J and 1982 respectively with a Z1000S1 ).

With Yamaha, he won the World Championships in 1984, 1986 and 1988 in the 500 cc class of the Motorcycle World Championship. For the 1989 season, he joined the Rothmans Honda team Kanemoto Erv and won for the fourth time the world title in the premier class. This performance is considered " Steady Eddie" as one of the most successful drivers in the history. Overall, the Americans was 31 times victorious in the class up to 500 cc.

In 1999 Eddie Lawson in the Hall of Fame of the motorcycle world federation Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM ) was added.
