Eddie Mapp

Eddie Mapp (* 1910 in Social Circle, Georgia, † November 14, 1931 in Atlanta, Georgia) was an American blues harmonica player. He was best known as the partner of Blind Willie McTell and Barbecue Bob.

Life

The age of 12 Mapp occurred with guitarist Curley Weaver. The two made ​​music temporarily with the brothers Charley ( aka Laughing Charley Lincoln) and Robert Hicks (known as Barbecue Bob). On the recommendation of Barbecue Bob Mapp made ​​in 1929 with the Georgia Cotton Pickers his first recordings. His first solo recording in the same year was riding the blinds. He also played the harmonica in the recordings of various blues musicians. In 1931, a month after the death of Barbecue Bob, Eddie Mapp died in a knife attack that was never solved.
