Edermünde

Edermünde is a community in the Schwalm -Eder district in Hesse ( Germany ) at the mouth of the Eder, Fulda.

Geography and community structure

Edermünde located in the north of the Schwalm- Eder -Kreis, south of Kassel. The municipality consists of the villages Besse, Grifte, Haldorf and Holzhausen. The municipality is located in the central district of Holzhausen.

The district Besse hugs the west the nature park Hawk Forest towering Langeberg Mountains, Grifte is just west of the mouth of the Eder in the Fulda, Holzhausen is located on the basalt dome Hahn, and Haldorf lies just above the Edertal. The municipal area is drained by the western Eder tributary stream of pilgrims. The first village hall was built in Hesse in 1951 Haldorf.

Neighboring communities

Edermünde has in the extreme northwest a short border with the municipality Schauenburg, bordered to the north by the city Baunatal (both in the Kassel district ) in the east, with the Fulda and Eder as a boundary to the community Guxhagen, in the south on the town Felsberg, and in the southwest and west on the town Gudensberg (all three in the Schwalm -Eder -Kreis).

History

Incorporations

On December 31, 1971, the municipality Edermünde was formed by the merger of the municipalities Grifte, Haldorf and Holzhausen am new cock. Besse was added on 1 January 1974.

Natural Monuments

  • Hahn: (. 255.8 m above sea level ) of the basalt dome cock in Holzhausen up, an excellent view of the surrounding countryside. The road to the plateau was restored by wooden houses citizens in the years 1999 and 2000 and is therefore good to hike.

Regular events

  • Rock the Cock Festival: Since 2006, the famous rock festival of the 1980s again takes place annually. The festival is organized by the Eder mouths Youth Care and Youth Committee. It is used for supporting young bands. As headliners played in recent years, the Schröder, Monsters of Liedermaching and Ohrbooten. The festival takes place id R on the first weekend in September.

Edermünde has in the district Grifte Connecting to the Main - Weser Railway.
