Edgar Charles Polomé

Edgar Charles Polomé ( born July 31, 1920 in Molenbeek -Saint- Jean; † 11 March 2000, Houston ) was a Belgian- American Indo-Europeanist and professor of comparative religion and linguistics at the University of Texas at Austin.

He studied from 1938 at the Université libre de Bruxelles German, Germanic philology. In 1945, he joined the U.S. Army and served as an interpreter in Eschwege. After the war, he received his doctorate in 1949 at the University of Brussels.

Polomé was appointed in 1960 by Winfred P. Lehmann at the University of Texas for a visiting professorship and later received a full professorship at the Institute of Linguistics Germanistic.
