Edison James

Edison Chenfil James ( born October 18, 1943 in Marigot ) is a politician and was Prime Minister of Dominica.

Biography

After school he worked as a civilian employee in Dominica and the United Kingdom and employees of the Caribbean Development Bank. Later, he was from 1983 to 1990 Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of the Dominica Banana Marketing Corporation.

James, the founding member of the United Workers Party ( UWP ), was held from 1990 to 1995, the role of the opposition leader in the House of Assembly, the Parliament of Dominica. After defeating the UWP in the parliamentary elections, he was on 14 June 1995 as the successor of Mary Eugenia Charles Prime Minister of Dominica. He held until the defeat against the Dominica Labour Party under Rosie Douglas in the elections on 31 January 2000 this office.
