Edita Tahiri

Edita Tahiri ( born July 29, 1956 in Prizren ) is a Kosovar politician (ADK ) and since February 22, 2011 Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo.

Life

Edita Tahiri received his doctorate in 1980 at the University of Prishtina in electronics and telecommunications. Then she graduated in 1983 Postgraduate studies in Digital Telecommunications at the University of Essex. In 2002, she achieved a Masters degree in Public Administration and a Diploma in Public Policy and Management at the Harvard Kennedy School. Edita Tahiri is one of the most important politicians in the recent history of Kosovo and was co-founder of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK ) in the 1990s. This ranks as the second largest party in the country ( since 2011: 27 of 120 seats in parliament ) and has long been dominated by former President Ibrahim Rugova, the founding father of the party. The political career Edita Tahiris began in 1991 when she was elected to the presidency of the LDK and remained there until 1998. In the same period she was minister for foreign affairs. After the Kosovo war in 1999, Tahiri distanced more and more of the ideals of the LDK and fought for reforms in the country and their party. Along with her ​​followers she founded in May 2004, the Democratic Alternative of Kosovo ( ADK). 2007 and 2011 was their new party coalition partner of the ruling party PDK.

Edita Tahiri 2002 was a lecturer at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Prishtina. It is also since the start in March 2011, Deputy for Kosovo in direct talks with Serbia in order to regulate technical and regulatory issues between the two neighbors.
