Edmond Carmody

Edmond Carmody ( born January 12, 1934 in Ahalane, County Kerry, Ireland) is an American clergyman of the Roman Catholic Church and Bishop Emeritus of Corpus Christi.

Life

The Irishman Edmond Carmody, who had visited in his home, St. Patrick 's College in Carlow, received on 8 June 1957, the ordained priest for the Archdiocese of San Antonio.

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop on November 8, 1988 in San Antonio and Titular Bishop of Murthlacum. The Archbishop of San Antonio, Patrick Fernández Flores, gave him on 15 December of the same year, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were Charles Victor Grahmann, Bishop of Victoria, Texas, and Charles Edwin Herzig, Bishop of Tyler.

On 24 March 1992 he was appointed Bishop of Tyler and introduced into the office on 25 May of the same year. On 3 February 2000, he was appointed bishop in Corpus Christi and introduced into the office on 17 March of the same year. On 18 January 2010, Pope Benedict XVI. its age-related resignation.
