Edmond Malinvaud

Edmond Malinvaud Camille ( born April 25, 1923 in Limoges, France ) is a French economist.

Life

Edmond Malinvaud was born the son of the lawyer Auguste Malinvaud and his wife Andrée, born in Ballet. He attended the Gay -Lussac High School in Limoges and the Lycée du Parc in Lyon. He then studied economics, mathematics and statistics in Paris at the École polytechnique ( diploma 1946) and the École Nationale de la Statistique et de l' Administration Economique ( ENSAE ) (Diploma 1948). Then he went to the Institute National de la Statistique et des Études Économiques ( INSEE ), the Inspector General of he 1966 to 1974 and its Director-General, he was from 1974 to 1987. From 1950 to 1951 it the Rockefeller Foundation allowed to stay in the Cowles Commission for Research in Economics at the University of Chicago. From 1957 to 1993 he was director of studies at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, and from 1962 to 1966 director of the ENSAE. Guest professorships led him in 1961 and 1967 at the University of California, Berkeley, and from 1969 to 1972 at the Sorbonne. From 1972 to 1974 he was director of the Forecast Department of the French Ministry of Economy and Finance. After he was adopted in 1987 by the INSEE, he was from 1988 to 1993 Professor of Economic Analysis at the Collège de France.

Malinvaud is married to Elisabeth Compagnon since September 13, 1952, has two daughters and Cécile Catherine.

Work

Malinvaud works " in the field of mathematical and applied micro and macro theory, econometrics and statistics in conjunction with the practical and policy implementation in a senior position at the highest level. His pioneering efforts in the synthesis of Keynesian and neoclassical explanation of unemployment with rigid prices, the development of disequilibrium theory and statistical and econometric methods deserve as much attention as his constant efforts to establish the reality-based application of his scientific knowledge. "
